A Strong Canada Protects Its Children - Stop Bill C39!

November 2026

Last week, 15 young Canadians courageously walked into a Vancouver court room for the country's first ever youth-led federal climate case to reach trial.

La Rose v. His Majesty the King argues that Canada’s actions contributing to greenhouse gas emissions threatens rights to life, liberty, and security of the person under Section 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. During the first week of the trial, 10 of the 15 youth plaintiffs bravely took the stand to share their personal accounts of how the climate crisis has physically and mentally impacted their lives.

Our kids are taking bold, courageous and creative climate action.

Meanwhile, back in September, Bill C-39 - the "Building Canada Strong Act", was proposed in the House of Commons to fast track projects deemed in the "national interest" - from fossil fuel operations to Data Centres and Big Tech. The proposed law attacks vital environmental protections, Indigenous rights, and labour laws and will have devastating impacts for generations to come.

The truth is that a strong Canada is one that protects our kids and invests in their future without sacrificing the health and wellbeing of people and planet.

Parents, grandparents, and caregivers: let's learn from the youth in La Rose.  We need courageous climate action now for a chance of a sustainable future. Join us!

Why should parents care about Bill C-39?

If it passes, Bill C-39 will dismantle critical protections for the environment, Indigenous sovereignty, and workers' rights. The proposed changes are not temporary -- they will change our laws for generations to come.

For most parents, grandparents, and caregivers, our main priority is to protect the safety and wellbeing of our children. But with Bill C-39, the government is choosing to accelerate the climate crisis, corporate control, and social inequities rather than protecting our children. We need to stand up and demand that the government invest in a clean, equitable economy -- one that our children will be proud to inherit.
