The For Our Kids network support team provides community organizing, strategy and communications support to For Our Kids local groups, across these lands known as Canada. We also support parents, grandparents and caregivers across the country by organizing events, trainings, collective actions, campaigns, storytelling opportunities and a network newsletter.
Wyanne Sandler
National Network Director
Wyanne is based in Nalikitquniejk, Mi’kma’ki (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) where she lives with her partner and their two children. She brings to her role skills and experience in non-profit management together with a passion for food sovereignty, social, ecological, and climate justice. She believes deeply in the power of community and love for the Earth and future generations to bring about the changes we need for a climate-safe future.
Areej Riaz
Organizer, School Actions
Areej is located in London, on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron. She has been active in the climate policy, education and action arena for 17 years, and has been working on grassroots action in Canada since 2019. Areej is an aunt to 5 nieces and nephews whom she loves as dearly as our planet, and holds a deep-rooted commitment to safeguarding Mother Earth for current and future generations.
Jinhwa Hwong-Ambrose
Organizer, Local Team Support
Jinhwa was raised in rural Ontario and now lives with her partner and their daughter on the traditional and unceded lands of the Musqeaum, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, in the city of Vancouver. Since the 2018 IPCC report she has dedicated herself to being part of the movement for a climate-safe future. She is passionate about supporting people to engage with climate action in a way that is both impactful and personally sustaining.
Gabrielle Willms
Organizer, Bank Divestment Campaign
Gabrielle is based on Treaty 1 territory in Winnipeg, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and homeland of the Métis nation. She’s a proud auntie to two nieces, and brings a background in non-profits and grassroots climate organizing to FOK.
Lorna Pelly
Fund Development & Communication
Lorna lives at the bottom of the North Shore mountains in North Vancouver, the traditional territory of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam Nations. She has worked in the environmental and climate change sector for two decades, mainly in the non-profit sector. Lorna has two boys who keep her active in the outdoors which always reaffirms her love of nature and why we need to fight to protect it.
