School Council Guide for Parents and Caregivers

Across Canada, many climate-conscious parents and caregivers are already active in their school councils and are working to create stronger school communities through projects that make them more climate-resilient and healthier for children. Drawing on the experiences of parent organizers from across Canada, we have created our Taking Climate Action at School Guide for parents and caregivers who care about their kids' future and want to help make their schools healthier, safer, and more climate-ready. The guide provides interested parents and caregivers with:

  • an overview of how school councils work
  • the key steps to taking climate action at school
  • tips from parent organizers on how to make school climate action a success
  • considerations for integrating climate action into broader school/board mandates
  • example topic areas to consider for school climate action with project ideas and resource links

The guide is viewable in 2 formats - as a digital download and as an on-line flip-book. Click below for the format that works best for you!
