Fight back against bad legislation
Recently, we have been inundated by a wave of legislation at all levels of government that puts all of us at risk. The politicians ramming through these bills and bylaws tell us that they are protecting us -- from US tariffs, from political and economic instability, etc. -- but the opposite is true. Most of this legislation actually dismantles the regulations and processes that protect life in Canada and around the world. Politicians are actively sacrificing Indigenous sovereignty, the environment, immigrants, our Charter rights, and the health and wellbeing of our children, all while pretending to act in our best interest.
It's easy to get discouraged, but there are many ways to stand up, resist, and build the things we really want and need.
Join or start a For Our Kids group
If you're not yet part of a For Our Kids group and you're interested in joining one (or starting your own), we'd encourage you to:
- visit the list of For Our Kids groups operating in communities across Canada,
- check out our "Starting a Local Team" guide
- contact our organizing team to arrange an introductory chat
Use our toolkit to lobby your elected representatives
Elected officials need to hear that families demand ambitious climate action, not more funding and support for the very industries that are driving the climate crisis.
Our toolkit provides talking points and guidance that can help you have productive conversations with your representatives.
Participate in an existing campaign
Many organizations and communities are running campaigns aimed at pushing back against harmful bills and bylaws. You can participate in and support these campaigns, often with just a click. (Wherever feasible, we encourage you to support campaigns that are not just in your province, as issues like airborne pollution are not contained by provincial borders.)
