As wildfire season ramps up, tell elected officials we need climate action now!

As wildfires ramp up, tell your elected officials you want climate action now!

As wildfires burn across the prairies, over 30,000 people have been evacuated from their homes, and communities across the country are getting hit by smokey skies and dangerous air pollution.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Carney and provincial leaders are looking to fast-track resource extraction projects, such as oil and gas pipelines, that will directly contribute to the increasingly extreme weather we’re living through.

We need elected officials to hear that families demand ambitious climate action, not more funding and support for the very industries that are driving the climate crisis.

Here are a few actions you can take as we head into the summer.

  1. Send a letter to your MP and a letter to your MLA expressing your support for strong climate action. Ask for a meeting to express your concerns. Here are templates you can use.
  2. Make a call to your MP or MLA. Here are some key talking points to use.
  3. Are your elected officials hosting barbeques or public events this summer? Show up and tell them why climate action is so critical for you as a constituent! Feel free to use the key talking points above.

Bonus Idea: Host a postcard party with friends in the neighbourhood before your MP / MLA event to write down your specific concerns. Then, deliver a stack of postcards in person to show how many parents and kids care about climate action.

Did you take action? We want to hear about it!
