Parents Talk Climate - Halifax

Concerned about climate change and how it’s impacting our kids - now and in the future?
Join For Our Kids and Ecology Action Centre for a supportive circle to connect and talk about what it’s like to love and care for kids while facing the climate crisis. We’ll also discuss unique actions parents and families could take to create the world we want for them.

Join us if you’re:

• Interested in meeting other parents, guardians, grandparents, caregivers and allies with similar climate concerns. 

• Looking for support while exploring or grappling with a big issue like climate justice.

• Willing to participate in a creative brainstorm for actions parents can take. Note: we hope discussions will inspire you to take something on after the gathering, but there will be no pressure to do so.

• Curious to learn more about climate change, For Our Kids, or Ecology Action Centre.

• This is an event for adults to connect. Small children are welcome to come and play at our feet, but not all discussions will be child-friendly. If finding childcare for older kids is a barrier to your participation, please email: [email protected]. 

• Participants are welcome to wear a mask if preferred, and to ensure the wellbeing of other participants we ask you to stay home if you’re not feeling well.

• We’ll have a blanket and small toys for babies and toddlers.

• Snacks and refreshments will be offered.

About the hosts:

For Our Kids is a national network of parents, guardians, grandparents, and allies, living on unceded Indigenous territories across the country known as Canada. We’re guided by parent-led teams from across the country, organizing together for climate justice. Our vision is a world that we are proud to pass along to our kids and grandkids - more secure, equitable and just than how we found it.  

Ecology Action Centre is a member-based environmental charity in Nova Scotia. Since 1971, we’ve taken leadership on critical environmental issues from biodiversity protection to climate change to environmental justice. We’re currently working on a new campaign to bring electric school buses to Nova Scotia.
