Kids reflect on snowshoeing & connect to nature workshop

The For Our Kids Ottawa-Gatineau team hosted its 3rd annual Nature Discovery Workshop on January 18th at the Ottawa-Carleton Wildlife Centre!

The event was a great success, with sounds of laughter and kids playing throughout our time there. Families had engaging conversations about nature, climate and how we can support our kids to spend time outside and connect with their environment.

Here are some reflections from kids who attended:

4 year-old participant: My favourite part was snowshoeing. It was fun and I never tried it.

7-year-old participant: I liked technically everything we did. We saw squirrels nests way up high in the trees, Kate, the Educator at the Wildlife Centre told us stories with stuffies about skunks and porcupines using stuffies. The quills are cool. We also saw animal's homes. We made butterfly crafts and drank hot chocolate.  Playing tag in the hallways was fun. I want to make a pollinator garden for the bees at the Wildlife Centre.

One of the participants even had a chickadee eat out of her hand!
