Get out the climate vote!

April 2025

Wyanne at polling station

You may have heard that a federal election is upon us!

Because For Our Kids is a non-partisan organization, we don't endorse any specific party or candidate. Instead, we're simply encouraging all of our network members to get out there and vote. When it comes to enabling a just transition off of fossil fuels, federal politics make a huge difference! So we need to use this election as an opportunity for climate-conscious parents and caregivers to make our voices heard from coast to coast to coast.

Let's make it impossible for any political leader to ignore the widespread popular demand for immediate, comprehensive, and decolonial climate action!

If you're lucky enough to be going into a long weekend, here are a few ways you can make the most of it:

  • Engage friends, family, and neighbours in courageous conversations about voting, the environment, and the safety and wellbeing of our children. Check out our Federal Election Resource Page for more guidance.
  • Vote early if you can! Advance polling stations are open for four days (April 18-21), from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Check your voter information card or use the Voter Information Service to find your polling station.
  • If you can't vote early, make a plan for voting on April 28 -- figure out logistics like childcare, work schedules, etc. in advance to make sure there are no issues on the day of.
  • Consider taking an "election selfie" and posting it to social media to encourage others to head to the polls! Use the hashtag #GetOutTheClimateVote and tag For Our Kids for amplification.

Thank you for all that you do!
