Industry and Canadian political leaders are using Trump’s tariffs and threats of annexation as an excuse to expand fracking and LNG exports and build more pipelines. We won’t let them get away with it. We are coming together to say this will take us in the wrong direction! Burning more fossil fuels only benefits billionaires.
Fossil fuels are the cause of the climate emergency we face today. More of the same will only make our planet hotter, more polluted and more prone to extreme weather disasters. An unstable climate means a higher cost of living, food insecurity, global conflicts and mass migration. For example, LNG exports are directly linked to a doubling of gas bills for British Columbians.
We are more united and determined than ever to say No to Business as Usual. Now is the time to channel our frustration into envisioning a better future for us all - a future that benefits working people, not just billionaires - a future fueled by renewable energy and a green economy - a future where our kids can grow up on a healthy and safe planet and Indigenous peoples’ rights are respected and protected. It is possible - if we work together to protect the people and places we love. Join us.
We gratefully take this action on the unceded and ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations, the true stewards of the lands on which we work, live and play.
