True Survivors: A Community Screening Guide

What is the film True Survivors?

In the documentary True Survivors, Sarika Cullis-Suzuki embarks on a scientific and personal journey, challenging the modern stereotype of ‘man against nature’ to get to the root of human survival. Sarika, a scientist and mother who fears for her children’s future, travels from the stunning deserts of New Mexico to the edge of the ice in Canada’s North to learn about how humans adapted to extreme environmental change in the past.

A survival story that builds bridges across generations - including from Sarika to her father, David Suzuki - True Survivors explores our shared human resilience. How have humans adapted and survived in the past? And what will it take to survive what’s next?

Why host a True Survivors screening and discussion?

As a documentary, True Survivors is a philosophical, scientific, and ethical exploration of hope, change, and parenting amidst the worsening climate crisis. Organizing a True Survivors screening and discussion in your community is a great way to bring people together around these issues, and also to lay the groundwork for future community organizing.
