Welcome to the Lab! We are thrilled to have you joining this hands-on space for parent organizers across Canada.
The Schools Climate Action Lab is designed to help you lead the way in making your schools climate-resilient. Whether you are pushing for electric school buses, better cooling systems in classrooms, or nature-based school grounds, this page provides the tools you need to move from an idea to a real-world win.
Step 1: Map Your School’s Climate Future
The first step in the Lab is using our Self-Paced Mapping Module. This step-by-step guide helps you map your specific school community and district to build a customized action plan that works for your local context.
- Canva School/District Mapping Tool – Use this interactive tool to identify key stakeholders and opportunities in your district.
- Recorded Guidelines – Watch a short walkthrough on how to get the most out of the mapping process.
- Written Mapping Guide – A printable reference to help you gather information and strategize with your local team.
Step 2: Expert Support & Mentoring
Once you have started using the mapping tool, we are here to help you troubleshoot hurdles or act as a sounding board for your ideas. We offer three distinct types of support depending on where you are in your journey:
-
Project Strategy & Logistics (with Areej, For Our Kids): Book this session if you want to discuss potential climate project ideas, have questions about the microgrant application, or need to discuss specific accessibility needs to ensure your project is inclusive.

Live Guest Speaker Sessions
Join us in April and May 2026 for live online sessions featuring experts in school policy, climate health, and energy retrofits. These sessions are a chance to learn from those on the front lines of successful parent advocacy and ask questions specific to your challenges.
Detailed schedule and registration links for these sessions will be updated here and sent via email closer to the date.
Step 3: Apply for a Microgrant
We want to help you turn your strategies into reality. Once you have completed your community map and resulting action plan, you are invited to apply for a $500 microgrant to help cover the costs of implementing a climate project in your school.
