TALK: Why Real Climate Action Means Defunding the Police

Mother of three, BIPOC activist, journalist, and a social justice warrior, Molly Murphy joins us on February 10 at 8pm to discuss her frontline experience with RCMP violence on unceded Indigenous lands in Pacheedaht, Dididaht and Wet’suwet’en territories.

Molly will be speaking to parents about her research into the secretive arm of BC's RCMP called "Community-Industry Response Group (C-IRG)" with the mandate to protect government and corporate interests in resource extraction and energy projects through violent enforcement of court injunctions and criminalization of land defenders.

Molly Murphy has recently published her in-depth investigative work in Briarpatch magazine in Real Climate Action Means Defunding the Police and The C-IRG: The Resource Extraction Industry's Best Ally

Join parents across BC to hear more from Molly in this online session about why we need to connect the dots between the climate crisis and policing and to work together to call for the dismantling and defunding of policing as part of our climate action work.

This event is hosted by For Our Kids Vancouver, with support from For Our Kids North Vancouver, For Our Kids Sunshine Coast, and Parents 4 Future Victoria.
