Q: Do you have suggestions on how we can reach other fathers and grandfathers?
A: As a follow up to the previous question while I am inspired to make change towards mitigating the impacts of the climate crisis the event in no way at all inspired that change and I found it uninspiring, pushing the same old story, and putting the burden on individuals as opposed to politicians, policy makers, corporations, and those in power to do what we already know needs to be done. In particular, I found some of the remarks by Wilkinson to be especially privileged (upgrade your home, buy an electric vehicle, take the train – assuming people can afford to own a home and/or an electric vehicle, and have access to transit, and all of these solutions shift the burden of responsibility to individuals with the expectation that they will solve the climate crisis, which we all know is impossible without higher level tough decisions being made).
