About For Our Kids
For Our Kids (FOK) is a grassroots network of close to 6,000 parents, grandparents and guardians advocating for climate justice. We are from diverse backgrounds and experiences, united by our concern for our children’s future and determined to take action to reduce the impacts of climate change.
Our goal is to build a powerful constituency for more urgent action, motivated by love for all kids and future generations. We include social justice actions in our definition of climate action because climate breakdown does not impact everyone equally; our kids can't have a more just and resilient world without also addressing colonization, racism, gender inequity, ableism and poverty.
Overview of Role
The Communications Coordinator role is part of a small network support team working from home offices who are at the service of For Our Kids members, facilitating conversations, providing training and guidance, and building the capacity of parents to succeed.
For Our Kids practices an organizing model in which parents take the lead, choosing what to work on and stepping up into leadership. They are organized in local teams taking action in their communities to make them liveable, sustainable and equitable, and collectively they advocate for regional and national action on the climate emergency.
We’re looking for a motivated person who understands and is passionate about grassroots organizing and the challenge of reaching and engaging with new audiences, especially busy parents and caregivers. You will be experienced in managing and implementing a communication strategy and ready to help support campaigns and actions with creative communications using all our digital platforms.
We work collaboratively as a team, but this role will be responsible for all communications from our central support team, and will be supported by our National Network Director. We connect via weekly team calls and use Slack, Google Workspace and Nationbuilder for internal communications.

- Strategic communication experience - have previously developed and managed a communication strategy, particularly focused on engagement of new audiences.
