Climate at School: Who to Talk To & What to Say

Who to Talk to and What to Say: Navigating School Leadership for Climate Impact

As parents, we want our children to grow up in a healthy, safe world full of opportunity. While the climate crisis can feel overwhelming, some of the most impactful changes start right where our kids spend their days: at school. Join For Our Kids and Door Number One for a conversation with Laura Nickerson, Board and District Program Manager at EcoSchools Canada, to learn how to turn your concerns into a roadmap for a sustainable school community.

With over 15 years of experience in sustainability and education, Laura leads efforts to embed climate action into the everyday operations of school boards. She will help pull back the curtain on how school systems work, from the principal’s office to the school board trustees, to help you reduce environmental impact and build climate-resilient schools.

In this session, you will discover:

  • Proven Tactics: Learn how to approach school leadership with confidence and clear goals.

  • Success Stories: Hear how other Canadian parents and schools have successfully implemented green initiatives.

  • The EcoSchools Toolkit: Get a guided walkthrough of ready-to-use resources that make climate action simple and effective.

  • Interactive Problem-Solving: Brainstorm solutions for your specific local hurdles with expert guidance.
