My name is Mike Dickey. I live in Edmonton with my wife and two daughters. I've always been concerned about the climate crisis, but had trouble coming out of the woodwork to find like-minded people. For Our Kids is a great opportunity for concerned parents to collaborate their efforts, to make a difference, to fight for our children’s rights to a sustainable and livable world. As parents, we have many competing priorities: kid’s activities and school work, job responsibilities, staying connected with friends, or even mundane things like mortgage payments. However, our warming climate cares nothing for these things. In 2050, how would a destabilized climate have affected the economy? Our food security? The snowpack that Edmonton relies on? How much will we be taxed to adopt to these devastating changes? For some of us, only our children will find out. By that time, the priorities we think are important now will seem trivial indeed. Let’s get together and do something about it - for our kids.
